Health Happenings from Mrs. Kleinschmidt

Football games, sweatshirts, cooler nights and sunny days make us aware that the season is changing. Those with allergies are experiencing runny noses, itchy eyes, along with scratchy throats and coughing.

More and more of these symptoms are creeping into Forest View daily. Some students find relief with eye drops, throat lozenges, throat sprays or antihistamines. If it is necessary that your child take an over the counter medication during the school day, you must turn in a Medication Authorization Form. This must be brought to school signed by the parent. The Authorization Form will need to accompany the medication. All medications, including over-the counter medication, will be kept in the Health Care Office. Students are not allowed to keep any medication in their classrooms, their pockets or their backpacks. If you need a medication form, please call me at school at 847-472-3565. I will be happy to assist you to keep your child safe and healthy during each school day.

Peggy Kleinschmidt, RN, CSN

Safety Procedure Reminders

All parents must sign their child out if leaving early and sign in if the child arrives late. This includes when your child goes home for lunch. Please send a note to the teacher when you know your child will be leaving early.

  • The drop off for students takes place in front of the school. Students are not to be dropped off in the parking lot or in the bus lane.
  • Be courteous while waiting for your child at the end of the day by waiting patiently to leave your parking space. Please be aware of children crossing the street.
  • All visitors must sign in and wear a visitor’s badge when visiting the school.

Traffic Update

Morning Plan:
The morning drop off will allow for two cars at a time to let their child out of the car. Cars waiting in spots 3-5 will need to wait until the cars in spots 1 & 2 have pulled away. A staff member will be there to help your child out of the car. Please do not have your child get out of the car until you are in spots 1 or 2. This procedure will start each morning at 8:50 and go until 9:05.

Afternoon Plan:
The students will be asked to wait on the sidewalk until we see the car pull up before they walk over to the pull in area. If there is not space for you to pull in, we ask that you drive around the block and try again after other cars have pulled away. If you have a plan for your child to walk to a certain area to meet your car they will be crossing at the crosswalk at Estates or will walk along Estates drive to your parking spot. Our focus is to keep the students safe. To do so we need your cooperation and patience.
